Yarrow and Andrew met after testifying at an Anchorage Assembly meeting in June 2021. They founded Anchorage Action as an alternative response to the rage on display by so many in our local political climate. They started an Anchorage Action Facebook Group that quickly expanded into a broad movement striving for civility and kindness in government, important conversations with our fellow neighbors, and working together towards a stronger, more connected community.
Yarrow was born and raised in Alaska. She is an Environmental Scientist who has worked for the Dept. of Environmental Health of Denver, the State of Alaska Department of Fish and Game, and BGES Environmental Consulting Services. She loves to travel and once took a year long trip by land from India to Cambodia (where she stowed away on a train from Kazakhstan to China after being denied a ticket). She and her husband of 15 years are raising their two children in East Anchorage where Yarrow serves on the board of Scenic Foothills Community Council.
Andrew first moved to Anchorage from Texas in 1998 immediately after graduating from college (he only stayed a year, but spent the next decade and a half trying to get back). He is a physician assistant with the federal government and the Alaska Army National Guard which he deployed with in 2019. He is on the board of the Campbell Park Community Council, has taught yoga at the Alaska Club, and sings with the Anchorage Opera Chorus. He, his husband, and son attend the Anchorage Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.
